Weather Prep, Storm Chasing and a Meterologist Guest Speaker, Oh My!

Add to Your Calendar: 11/07/2019 18:30 11/07/2019 20:30 America/Chicago Weather Prep, Storm Chasing and a Meterologist Guest Speaker, Oh My!

Tonight, following up on our fall co-op session on science, our November Monthly Meeting will feature a special Guest Speaker, KTBS-3's meteorologist Brian Fowler! Make sure to come to Smith Hall at Northside Church at 6:30pm as we learn about ArkLaTex weather preparedness, storm chasing, and what it takes to become a meteorologist. Plus, a question and answer session! Light refreshments will be served.

Brian Fowler has known, since he was knee-high to a short giraffe, that he wanted to be a Weatherman. He grew up just west of here in McKinney, Texas. When Brian was just a lad, skydiving and flying were his big hobbies. Most weekends, and some weekdays, were spent either flying a plane or jumping out of it. This definitely had an impact on what he decided to major in when he went off to Mississippi State. Brian also spent his high school days hanging out at the National Weather Service in Ft. Worth during his free time, where he was able to broadcast weather, temperature, and wind, before all that went automated.

Brian received a B.S. in GeoSciences with an emphasis in Broadcast Meteorology after four years at Mississippi State University. After college, he returned home and worked at TXCN and WFAA-TV as an on-air Meteorologist. His experience in Southern Plains weather spans more than 16 years. Brian has moved around a bit since his days in Dallas, until finally making his home right here in the Arklatex!

Brian is married and has two beautiful girls (One is now a teenager so pray for him!).

When he's not forecasting the weather, Brian enjoys (in this order, of course) spending time with his wife and kids, running, swimming, and working out. He also heads home to McKinney to see family and friends every chance he gets.

You can find Brian on Facebook at KTBS Meteorologist Brian Fowler.
